sunday school: how to paint ombré walls.

I for one am totally loving this ombré craze.  Ombré nailsombré hairombré clothes.  I love it all.  I want to be surrounded by ombré!!!  And now I will be!  Today's Sunday School lesson is on how to paint ombré walls.

There are about a zillion tutorials floating out there on how to paint ombré walls.  Most of which are either not very detailed or on painting in color gradated stripes that are clearly demarcated from the next color.  What I want to do is paint a wall that seamlessly blends from a dark color, passes through at least 4 shades of the same color and ends on a light shade of the same color.

I've found two tutorials that are both successful in producing the look I crave AND seem easy enough for a DIYer like myself to accomplish.  The first tutorial on how to paint ombré walls comes from Wild Ink Press, the California based, letterpress studio.  They show us HERE how they made a gorgeous ombré booth for themselves to display their adorable stationary at their industry tradeshow.  Their booth turned out beautifully and their method, while requiring a bit of artistic skill and ample ventilation, seems easy enough.

For those of us who aren't painting outside or in a room with huge windows, I like the extremely simple lesson from Lowe's Creative Ideas, which teaches us how to blend the paint using a paint brush.

I plan on trying to create the look on my own walls as soon as I have a free weekend to paint.  I'll be sure to post the results, but if you try it first, by all means, post the link in the comments along with any helpful suggestions you can add.  I'd love to see how it turns out!

Here's how: Hollow out pumpkins (see tips below), then paint each one white, including stems. Use a grease pencil to draw three circles for the face, varying the shapes of the eyes and mouth on each to give the pumpkins personality. Carve out. Place a small votive inside pumpkins to illuminate. chameleon paint
